Things to do around

007 Elements – a cinematic installation dedicated to the world of James Bond

Tyrol, Austria

The installation focuses on the most recent film, Spectre, which was shot in Sölden, but also showcases the other titles in the 24-film series. It is housed inside a beautiful, bespoke building designed and constructed by Obermoser arch-omo zt gmbH inside the summit of the Gaislachkogl Mountain in Sölden, more than 3,000-metres above sea level. 007 ELEMENTS guides visitors on a journey through a series of high-tech, interactive galleries, each distilling the craft of the signature elements that define a James Bond film — the beautiful title sequences and dramatic scores; the jaw-dropping action sequences; the cars, gadgets and technology; the breath-taking locations and iconic studio sets and lastly, a host of compelling characters.

SKIING HOLIDAYS in its most exciting facet

Tyrol, Austria

Sölden, at the heart of Ötztal, is not only one of Tirol's most popular tourist resorts but also one of the most renowned ski destinations in the Alps. Not without reason it ranks among the best: thanks to the high Alpine altitude between 1350 and 3340 meters, two glaciers and state-of-the-art mountain lift infrastructures plus snow-making systems, the holiday resort promises snow-sure skiing holidays in a class of its own. The infinite number of slopes and ski trails for all levels and abilities coupled with the perfect grooming of not less than 144 km of slopes make Sölden a truly unique winter sports center. State-of-the-art ski lifts and gondolas with a total capacity of 67,000 persons/hour guarantee ultimate skiing fun without queuing. SNOW IS ABSOLUTELY GURANTEED

Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstraße – The secret door to the south

Tyrol, Austria

If you drive along the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road, the highest pass of the eastern Alps, you can enjoy a majestic view of the Ötztal Alps and a masterpiece of road construction at the same time. 60 spectacular bends lead to an altitude of 2500 meters - a truly memorable experience especially for cabriolet drivers, motor bikers or mountain bikers. Fantastic vantage points, crystal-clear brooks and steep-ascending rock faces accompany you from the Ötztal valley to the Italian Tyrol. The 60 km drive from Obergurgl to the health resort of Merano only takes about 1.5 hours.

Stuiben Falls – Tyrol`s highest waterfall – 159 m

Tyrol, Austria

Scenic 'Horlachbach' brook rushes down from Niederthai into the valley from a height of 159 meters. The several meter-high area filled with water crystals can be seen from far. These clouds of water dust particles also gave the name to the 'Stuiben Falls'. A new designed hiking trail and stair construction allows you to experience the Stuibenfall at close range.Hikers and mountaineers pass the viewing platforms and the roaring waters via approx. 700 steps and an exposed 80 meter long suspension bridge leading to Niederthai - the origin of the waterfall. What's more, the wonderful Alpine flora in the falls' surroundings is a highlight not to be missed. And with a bit of luck, on sunny days you also have the chance to admire the most colorful rainbows.
