Came here first time with people who visited multiple times before. They were raving about the campsite, and now i know why. The place is lovely. The staff super friendly. The facilities are fine. The view over lago d'Orta and the mountains surrounding is just stunningly beautiful. The site is situated on a windy small road up the hill, be cautious with large vehicles: groceries are available at the foot of the hill in a large supermarket (Conad). For a quiet lovely holiday in beautiful Italy, much recommended.

A beautiful camping, very meticulously maintained. Facilities sparkling clean. Paolo, the owner/manager is a very friendly, welcoming man. We come to this place since 20 years, almost every year. Location is dreamy. Our home away from home.

Lovely campsite, beautiful position overlooking lake Orta. Showers good, but toilets could do with improving and more cleaning.

Things to do around

San Giulio Island

Piemonte, Italy

On the shores of Lake Orta stands a town with an unmissable charm: Orta San Giulio, fronted by the beautiful Island of San Giulio. The small island of San Giulio, reachable by boat or speedboat, is dominated by the Romanesque basilica, the bishop's palace and the Benedictine abbey. Legend has it that this island, no more than 400 meters from the shore of Orta, was once a rock inhabited by snakes and terrible monsters, until in 390 St. Julius arrived there: crossing the waters of the lake above his cloak and guided in the storm by his staff, the Saint founded a church, in which he then chose to be buried , and transformed the island into the center of evangelization throughout the region. The tourist is welcomed on the island by a short staircase that leads to the suggestive Romanesque basilica, the main attraction of the place. The visit continues through a small road that runs along the entire island; it is the "way of silence and meditation", a suggestive combination of spirituality and architecture. Walking through the alleys of San Giulio you reach the nineteenth-century Palazzo dei Vescovi and the Benedictine Abbey Mater Ecclesiae: in this charming convent of female cloistered the nuns, who live permanently on the island, spend their days dedicating themselves to prayer, study, restoration of ancient and precious sacred vestments, the packaging of the osties and the preparation of the famous "bread of St. Julius". The other buildings of the island, now private residences, were once the homes of the canons: among the oldest is the Villa Tallone, where prestigious classical music concerts take place every year. A lovely restaurant with a terrace on the lake and a souvenir shop complete the picture of the facilities available to tourists.

Piemonte, Italy

Omegna overlooks Lake Orta at the far north, where the lake returns river, the River Nigoglia, which after a short stretch also welcomes the waters of the Strona stream and then reaches the Toce and then Lake Maggiore. The town seems to want to witness the bizarreness of this emissary, the only one of the great prealpine lakes that flows north: "the river that goes up" according to the popular saying. The town represents the largest center of the Cusio area, although it is already located in the same province of Verbania, with its ca. 15,000

Toce Waterfall

Piemonte, Italy

Among the most beautiful waterfalls in Italy we cannot forget the Cascata del Toce which, together with the mountains that surround it, gives great celebrity to val Formazza. Defined as "the most beautiful and the most powerful among the waterfalls of the Alps", this wonder gives the viewer a water jump of about 143 meters for a maximum front, at the base, of 60 meters. But the gem stands at the top of the waterfall and is represented by a panoramic balcony from which you can admire it and photograph it in all its loud power. Also at the top is the hotel of the famous architect Piero Portaluppi, designed in the Deco style in 1923. In the Piedmont region you will also find the highest waterfall in Italy, that of Stroppia!
